Update 2023
IT BEGAN WITH AN EIGHT-MEMBER INDIGENOUS CHOIR OFFERING A BLESSING AND SONG AND ENDED WITH NEARLY EVERYONE IN THE AUDIENCE SINGING, DANCING AND PAYING HOMAGE TO THE SPIRIT AND STRENGTH OF TINA TURNER AND ALL THAT SHE EXEMPLIFIED FOR FEMALE LIBERATION. AND, A GREAT DEAL HAPPENED IN BETWEEN.
Andrea Magee’s inaugural International She Rises Music Fest came to Taos to create a bond and sense of community to uplift and empower women. “I am completely over the moon with the response,” commented Magee the day after the final events (yoga and a self-defense class) took place at Kit Carson Park. “People came to me with tears in their eyes and told me it was deep and meaningful, that it was something healing. Women commented that they loved being part of something so powerful.”
